About The Rotary Club of Felixstowe

The Rotary Club of Felixstowe meets each week on Thursday lunchtimes at the Orwell Hotel in Hamilton Road. Members usually arrive between 12.30 pm and 12.45 pm for an informal gathering before going in to have lunch at 1.00 pm.
Each week, after any club announcements or general discussion, there is usually a speaker who will give a presentation on their chosen subject. This not only serves to provide members with an insight into many different topics or walks of life, but is very enjoyable and often thought provoking. Many organisations who have given a talk have so impressed us that the Club has donated funds to their cause, or offered support where it can be given.
The Club is closely linked to R.I. and R.I B.I. which are Rotary International (World Wide) and Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, from where many fundraising or other activities are coordinated.
The Club has officers, elected every year, which form the Club's Governing Council. From the President and the rest of the Council, come proposals for fundraising events, causes which require support and general Club activities. Before any final decisions are made, they are put before the whole Club membership, debated and voted on prior to being implemented.
In addition, there are other members who take on responsibilities with regard to specific events such as the Annual Fun Run, Concerts, other events and the Christmas Rudolph Collection.
Looking back at members in years gone by, The Rotary Club of Felixstowe can count some quite famous names who once served it well and those who live in the area will no doubt recognise many businesses who still bear their names.
